To study the flow measurement methods the controlled conditions are needed. With the 2-phase flow measurement facility the tests with water, air, steam, and with a mixture of them can be performed. The mass flow of each component is measured by using the flow meter and the pressure and the temperature measurements in the feed line. The flow meters to be tested are in the test section. The conditions in the test section are controlled with the flows and with the pressure and the temperature in the storage tank.
The facility consists of the storage and heating tank, the water circulation pump, the mixer of water and air or steam, and the vertical and the horizontal test sections. The maximum operating pressure and temperature are 1 MPa and 150 °C, respectively.
The facility can be used also for checking and calibrating the 1-phase flow meters as well as testing the pressure and the temperature measurements. The facility is suitable also for defining the loss coefficients of several equipments like the valves.
