CRAFTY facility

The design basis for the separate-effect-test facility CRAFTY (CRiticAl Flow Test facilitY) is a primary-to-secondary guillotine rupture of a steam generator tube. CRAFTY consists of a pressurization line, an upstream pressure vessel, a u-bend measurement pipe, discharge pipes with varying L/D ratios, and a downstream blowdown vessel. The pressurization is done with nitrogen gas which is fed to the upper part of the upstream pressure vessel. The facility can be preheated via a preheating line from the PArallel Channel TEst Loop (PACTEL) facility and the PPOOLEX facility acts as the downstream vessel or receiving tank. The maximum upstream pressure is 10 MPa and the maximum temperature 270 °C.
